Boost Wireless Signal

Any device can be setup to broadcast a wireless signal. This includes access points and
wireless pci/usb cards. All that is required is to go into the advanced wireless properties
and enter a ssid (wireless network name), set the authentication (if any) and that's it.
Other devices when searching for wireless networks in range will find yours.
I am looking for any hardware that will boost the signal of this network. A search on
the internet reveals there are antennas/amplifiers that can do the job.
1 mile antennas can be connected to replace the antenna on your access point.
